The Boundary County Library had its start near the turn of the century when a group of local residents, believing that a library was essential to a community, gathered books and delivered them door to door using a wheelbarrow. In the years since, the library has grown considerably, moving to various locations as it outgrew its former homes. In 1957, Boundary County voters approved the first Library Taxing District in the State of Idaho, and in the mid-1970s the Library Board approved the construction of a home of its own at the very entrance to downtown Bonners Ferry, where it now resides.
